Hello, super students! How are you today? So, maybe you have been asking yourself… What does Argentina’s flag mean? Why it has light blue? Why it has a sun? What about the white? It’s because of the sky? It’s because of the sea? Let’s discover why this beautiful flag looks like this.
Argentina’s flag
Firstly, let’s see who created the flag and when. The flag was created by Manuel Belgrano in 1813. He’s one of the Argentinean national hero’s. The funny thing about all this is that the colors of the flag are based on the colors of the “escarapela” (rosette). And the colors of the “escarapela” are based on… no one knows! There is more than one version about the origin of white and light blue in our patriotic symbols.
The version we all love is the one that says that the light blue is because of the sky and the white is because of silver (because Rio de la Plata, you know? Silver River).
Other national symbols of Argentina
However, the flag is not the only symbol Argentina has. Besides of flag and “escarapela”, there are two more symbols. The first one: the Argentinian National Anthem. And the other one: the Argentine shield.
