Starting a whole new life from scratch is tough. No one can say that’s easy because it implies, basically, MOVING. Moving, leaving your country, leaving your loved ones, your family is a movement and it changes your heart. First of all, if you’re leaving or if you are here in Buenos Aires you must know: this is a city that welcomes you. In a very weird and intense way, being an expat in Buenos Aires can help you for good and I’m gonna tell you why.
Accommodation in Buenos Aires
So, you jump off the plane, you do all your migration and then what? You have to find a place to live. Or maybe you can look for that before travelling, but it’s best to spot the places, right? Airbnb is a very good place to start. They show different rooms or apartments and it’s a trusted site. Also, you can check on Facebook groups of expats living in Buenos Aires to see what they are suggesting. Besides, this could work as a source for work, finding new friends, maybe meeting the love of your life. Who knows, anything could happen. For more information, click here and here.
Where to eat in Buenos Aires?
Buenos Aires is a multicultural city, highly influenced by the combination of several inmigration waves back in 1890-1950. You can find Spanish and Italian roots in the accent and of course: the food!
There’s no better place to eat pizza than Buenos Aires, that’s for sure. The two pizza restaurants that stole my heart are Güerrín and La Mezzetta. Both of them have a crunchy dough mixed up with a cheese that wants to slip away any minute but if you’re fast enough, you can catch it before it falls. While Güerrín is more traditional and it’s very well located (in the centre of the city, nearby theatres and important monuments), the charm of La Mezzetta lies in its fugazzetta and that you can eat sitting in the street.
If you’re into vegan or vegetarian food, no worries: there is room for you. Buenos Aires Verde and Artemisia are delicious.
Where to chill in Buenos Aires?
Buenos Aires city has beautiful parks in every neighbourhood that are waiting for you to discover them. Some of my to-go parks are: Parque Las Heras, the park behind Biblioteca Nacional (another incredible spot here), Plaza La Vuelta de Obligado, Parque Avellaneda, Plaza Lezama, Bosques de Palermo. Another site I recommend for you is the Fuente Monumental de las Nereidas. It’s a sculptorial complex created by Lola Mora, an amazing Argentine artist that needs more people to know her work.
